On Friday, May 20, 2022, from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m, the tenth Long Night of Research took place with a large crowd. Across Austria, 135,000 visitors from young to old used the opportunity to try out science and research for themselves with free entry.
The Softwarepark Hagenberg was also the scene of the Long Night of Research with more than 30 stations and made it possible to experience innovative research projects, new technologies and scientific findings live in an easy and understandable way.
At the ventopay research station, visitors asked themselves the question “How does the automatic recognition of food and drinks by camera work?” and were able to try out the innovative mocca.foodrecognition system for themselves. It was enough to place a plate of food under the camera. The artificial intelligence automatically recognized the dish and automatically booked it into the cash register system. After cashless payment using a contactless chip card, the digital receipt could also be accessed.
Furthermore, the supporting program offered a lot, especially for the little ones: in addition to a magician, the research quiz was also particularly popular. If the children were able to answer at least 8 out of 10 questions correctly, a gift awaited the little researchers.
