On Friday, February 24th, 2023, the time had come for LASK: The Raiffeisen Arena, the new Linz stadium at the Gugl, was opened with a Bundesliga game. The football club’s “project of the century” has a total capacity of 19,080 spectators when it is fully occupied.

Innovation company from Hagenberg delivers cashless payment system

The Hagenberger company ventopay is the innovation and technology leader in digitization in stadiums, communal catering and system catering. As a leading manufacturer of complete digital solutions, ventopay inspires guests, fans and users with the most innovative products and a powerful payment system at the cutting edge of technology.

In total, ventopay equipped the Raiffeisen Arena with 68 stationary cash registers and four document reprint stations. The special feature of the system is the exclusively cashless payment via all common EC and credit cards as well as mobile payment options such as Apple Pay and Google Pay.

Digital receipts protect the environment

In order to avoid paper waste and to protect the environment, the obligation to issue receipts is being digitized: Receipts are made available for inspection and printing at receipt stations immediately after payment with the bank card. This shortens throughput times at the checkout.

Enthusiastic fans and users thanks to cashless payment

ventopay’s decades of expertise in the implementation of large-scale payment system projects convinced LASK right away.

The football club quickly decided on purely cashless payment in the arena, as this offers a number of advantages for both fans and operators:

By using non-cash payment methods, fans can make their purchases faster during the short breaks, resulting in shorter queues. This can also help the operator increase food and drink sales in the arena.

The use of cashless payment methods also offers fans better transparency about the purchases made.

The operator, on the other hand, benefits from cost savings: By using cashless payment methods, the costs for cash handling are eliminated.

ventopay’s digital platform offers sustainable opportunities for innovation. LASK also opted for this platform in order to introduce further innovations step by step.

So it remains exciting…
