Statutory change to Value Added Tax in Austria
As of 1 July 2026, a statutory change to value added tax (VAT) will come into effect in Austria: The VAT on selected basic food items will be permanently reduced from 10% to 4.9%. This applies, among other things, to bread and bakery products, milk and selected dairy products, butter, eggs, as well as certain domestic fruit and vegetable varieties.
