Digital food service at the highest level - efficient, flexible, connected
Seamless break-time catering across a large production site
The biggest challenge was to efficiently organize daily break-time catering across a large production campus with multiple buildings and an external subsidiary. By integrating all locations into a user-friendly pre-ordering system, the entire process was fully digitized.
Employees can now choose from 32 delivery locations and 69 time slots, with orders delivered almost directly to their workplace, right down to the designated pickup station on the respective floor.
A particularly popular feature is the flexible sandwich configurator, which allows users to combine around 20 different ingredients. As a result, break-time catering has become not only faster, but also more personalized and efficient.
Enhanced ordering flexibility for diverse working models
At Anton Paar’s production campus, a wide variety of working environments come together, ranging from shift-based manufacturing and precise laboratory operations to traditional office work. The new system seamlessly adapts to these different schedules and requirements. Thanks to the wide range of selectable delivery time slots and drop-off locations within the pre-ordering system, employees can plan their meals and snacks exactly according to their shift patterns and break schedules.
Through consistent digitalization, the company benefits from greater flexibility, transparency, and process reliability. At the same time, the catering operation has, for the first time, created a service offering that dynamically adapts to employees’ daily routines and needs, rather than requiring employees to adapt to the catering service.
Optimized restaurant operations with pre-ordering and spontaneous purchases
Restaurant operations at the on-site brewery restaurant, Sudhaus, have also been fully digitized and integrated into the overall system. In addition to traditional pre-ordering, an innovative concept for spontaneous purchases has been implemented and supported by two self-checkout kiosks. To accommodate this model, the kitchen intentionally prepares additional portions alongside pre-ordered meals, which remain available while supplies last. These spontaneous orders are offered at a higher price point and synchronized directly with the ordering system through an automated real-time interface.
Both pre-ordered and spontaneously purchased meals are displayed in a unified format at the pickup terminal, significantly simplifying the collection process. Smaller purchases, such as an ice cream, can also be processed easily via the self-checkout system. The result is a fully digitalized restaurant operation that successfully combines planning reliability with maximum flexibility.
Digital technology that supports everyday operations
The technical infrastructure was strategically designed to ensure that all catering processes are digital, seamless, and user-friendly. A self-checkout terminal with mocca.touch, dedicated terminals for pre-ordering, information, and meal collection, as well as numerous connected hardware components ensure smooth operations throughout the facility. In total, 38 vending machines equipped with mocca.vend modules are distributed across the site, providing 24/7 access to coffee, snacks, and beverages.
With mocca.reporting+, all relevant data is available for detailed analysis and reporting, while ventopay centrally manages secure cloud operations. Identification and payment are handled conveniently through the customer’s existing Legic card system, which is seamlessly integrated into the ventopay platform and fully connected to payroll processing. The result is a highly modern, connected catering ecosystem that simplifies employees’ daily routines while delivering maximum convenience, transparency, and operational efficiency.
Transparency through intelligent data integration
In addition, the order overview within the pre-ordering system was enhanced to provide a clear and comprehensive view of all transactions, including pre-orders, vending machine purchases, and spontaneous purchases. This creates a high level of transparency for both catering operators and employees.
The combination of pre-ordering, self-service solutions, and vending machines delivers a flexible, innovative, and fully digital catering ecosystem that is precisely tailored to the requirements of a dynamic industrial environment.
“With ventopay, we have implemented a modern, flexible, and highly user-friendly solution. Providing meals and refreshments for our employees has become simpler and more efficient, and the combination of pre-ordering, spontaneous purchases, and vending services covers every need.”
