Our latest solution for handling shift catering at the vending machine sets new standards in the digitization and handling of gastronomic processes.
This is how shift catering works
The customer orders the desired food and drinks via the mocca.loyalty app. In the same step, he pays for the pre-order without cash via the app. This works using all common payment options such as SEPA direct debit, credit card, debit via wages and salaries or using credit that is previously credited to the customer account. In the mocca® system, an optional subsidy is also taken into account and billed in a tax-compliant manner.
The mocca.vend vending machine module is integrated in the pick-up machine. The required data (the pre-order ID and the pre-ordered products) are exchanged with the machine via the mocca.interfaces vending machine interface.
At the desired pick-up time, the customer comes to the machine and authenticates himself for the pick-up. Here again there are various options available:
- Placing the employee card on a card reader
- Scan the QR code from the mocca.loyalty app with a barcode scanner
- Activation of payment via BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) in the mocca.loyalty app
The vending machine then issues the pre-order automatically and the customer can enjoy the pre-ordered meal.

This innovative type of vending machine is not a dream of the future. On the contrary, the system is already in use at one of our long-standing customers. The connected machines from XL Automaten GmbH work both with modern sliding systems and with classic spirals. In both cases, a comfortable lift system is installed so that even sensitive products can be safely transported to the output area.
The advantages of vending machines are particularly evident in shift catering: on the one hand, pre-orders allow the kitchen to produce as needed, thus reducing food waste to a minimum and thus lowering costs. On the other hand, the possibility of shift catering creates an additional source of income, which increases sales.
